Certified Financial Planner

  • Durban, Kwazulu-Natal

We are seeking a client-centric, qualified Financial Advisor to build a thriving practice in KwaZulu-Natal. This role is for a true advisor, not just a salesperson. You will possess a deep-seated customer service mindset, viewing every interaction as an opportunity to build trust and provide exceptional, long-term value. By leveraging your relevant qualifications, strong local network, and proven sales experience, you will become a dedicated partner in your clients' financial journeys, helping them navigate complexity with confidence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Advisory & Financial Planning:
  • Act as a trusted fiduciary, providing holistic, client-first financial advice across retirement, investment, risk, estate, and tax planning.
  • Conduct in-depth financial needs analyses with empathy and a genuine desire to understand each client’s unique goals, fears, and life situation.
  • Client Relationship & Service Excellence:
  • Proactively manage the entire client lifecycle with a service-oriented approach—from the initial consultative discovery to ongoing reviews and portfolio adjustments.
  • Prioritize client education, ensuring they understand their plan and the reasoning behind recommendations, fostering confidence and long-term loyalty.
  • Go beyond transactions by providing proactive communication, timely updates, and being readily accessible to address client concerns or changing needs.
  • Business Development:
  • Grow your client base organically by leveraging your strong KZN network, with a focus on referrals earned through outstanding service.
  • Utilize your sales experience in a consultative manner, focusing on matching solutions to identified needs rather than product pushing.
  • Compliance & Professionalism:
  • Uphold the highest ethical standards and ensure full compliance with FAIS and FSCA regulations, viewing compliance as a cornerstone of client protection and trust.

Required Qualifications & Experience:

  • Relevant Qualifications: A recognized tertiary qualification in Finance, Business, or a related field.
  • Essential Certification: Must be FAIS compliant with a valid RE 5 and registered as a Representative with a licensed FSP. Progress toward or possession of CFP® is highly advantageous.
  • Sales & Service Experience: 3-5 years of proven experience in financial services sales, with a demonstrable track record of retaining clients through superior service.
  • Local Network: An established professional and community network within KwaZulu-Natal.
  • Product Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of key financial products and legislation.

Essential Skills & Competencies:

  • Unwavering Customer Service Ethos: A natural inclination to serve, advocate for, and build lasting partnerships with clients.
  • Exceptional Interpersonal & Communication Skills: Ability to listen actively, explain complex concepts simply, and build deep rapport.
  • Consultative & Empathetic Approach: Puts client needs first in all decision-making and recommendations.
  • Strong Analytical & Planning Abilities.
  • Integrity & Professionalism: Acts with honesty and transparency, always in the client’s best interest.
  • Resilience & Self-Motivation.
  • Valid driver’s license and own reliable vehicle.

What We Offer:

  • A competitive package with a base salary paid for a fixed initial period and a performance bonus rewarding both client acquisition and retention.
  • Ongoing training and support for professional development.
  • Access to a leading investment and insurance platform.
  • The opportunity to build a respected, service-driven practice with a reputable brand.
