This role involves managing budgets, cash flow, investments, and financial risks while leveraging modern financial technologies to optimize business performance.
Key Responsibilities
1. Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A)
Develop annual budgets, forecasts, and financial models to guide business decisions.
Conduct variance analysis and provide insights on financial performance.
Prepare management reports (monthly/quarterly) for executives and stakeholders.
2. Financial Reporting & Compliance
Oversee the preparation of financial statements (IFRS/GRAP compliance) .
Ensure compliance with SARS (VAT, PAYE, Corporate Tax) and Companies Act regulations.
Liaise with external auditors and manage year-end audits.
3. Cash Flow & Treasury Management
Monitor working capital, liquidity, and cash flow forecasting .
Manage banking relationships, loans, and investment strategies.
Optimize foreign exchange (forex) risk management (if applicable).
4. Cost Control & Profitability Optimization
Analyze cost structures and recommend efficiency improvements.
Implement cost-reduction strategies without compromising operations.
Evaluate pricing strategies and profitability per business unit.
5. Risk Management & Internal Controls
Establish and enforce internal financial controls to prevent fraud.
Assess financial risks (credit, market, operational) and develop mitigation plans.
Ensure adherence to King IV Corporate Governance principles.
6. Strategic Financial Leadership
Advise the CEO, CFO, and board on financial strategy and growth opportunities.
Support M&A, fundraising, and capital structuring initiatives.
Drive digital transformation in finance (ERP, automation, AI-driven analytics).
7. Team Leadership & Stakeholder Management
Lead the finance team (accountants, analysts, bookkeepers).
Collaborate with operations, sales, and IT to align financial goals.
Present financial insights to non-financial stakeholders in an understandable way.

Mandatory:

Postgraduate qualification (e.g., CTA, Honours in Finance, PGDA) .
Professional certification:
CA(SA) (Chartered Accountant) – Preferred
CIMA (Chartered Institute of Management Accountants)
