This role involves fundamental and quantitative analysis, financial modeling, and market trend forecasting using advanced analytical tools and investment technologies.
Key Responsibilities
1. Investment Research & Analysis
Perform fundamental analysis (financial statements, industry trends, management quality).
Conduct quantitative analysis (ratios, valuation multiples, DCF models).
Monitor macroeconomic indicators (interest rates, inflation, GDP growth).
2. Financial Modeling & Valuation
Build discounted cash flow (DCF), LBO, and comparable company models .
Calculate investment metrics (IRR, NPV, ROI, Sharpe ratio).
Assess risk-return profiles of equities, bonds, and alternative investments.
3. Portfolio Management Support
Recommend asset allocation strategies (stocks, bonds, REITs, ETFs).
Track portfolio performance and rebalancing needs.
Prepare investment committee reports with buy/sell/hold recommendations.
4. Market & Sector Research
Analyze JSE-listed companies and global markets.
Identify emerging sectors (FinTech, renewable energy, mining).
Evaluate ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) factors in investments.
5. Data Analytics & Technology
Use Bloomberg Terminal, Refinitiv Eikon for real-time market data.
Leverage Python/R for statistical arbitrage and algorithmic trading.
Automate reports with Excel VBA, Power Query, and Power BI .
6. Stakeholder Communication
Present findings to fund managers, clients, and senior executives .
Write research reports with clear investment theses.
Engage with company management for due diligence.
