Wealth Manager

The Wealth Manager provides comprehensive financial planning and investment advisory services to high-net-worth individuals (HNWIs) and families. This role combines financial expertise with relationship management to deliver customized wealth solutions while navigating South Africa's complex tax and regulatory environment.

Key Responsibilities
1. Financial Planning & Strategy
  • Develop personalized wealth plans (retirement, estate, tax optimization)
  • Conduct client risk profiling and investment suitability assessments
  • Structure tax-efficient investment vehicles (trusts, endowments, RA/TA)
2. Investment Portfolio Management
  • Construct diversified portfolios (equities, bonds, alternatives)
  • Implement discretionary fund management strategies
  • Monitor JSE, global markets, and economic trends affecting client assets
3. Tax & Estate Planning
  • Advise on estate duty mitigation (Section 4q deductions)
  • Structure cross-border wealth solutions (considering DTA agreements)
  • Coordinate with tax practitioners and attorneys on complex estates
4. Client Relationship Management
  • Maintain ongoing client reviews (quarterly performance reporting)
  • Identify wealth generation opportunities (business exits, inheritances)
  • Educate clients on changing financial regulations (e.g., two-pot retirement system)
5. Regulatory Compliance
  • Ensure FAIS Act compliance (Category I and II approvals)
  • Adhere to FICA and Financial Intelligence Centre requirements
  • Maintain CPD (Continuing Professional Development) requirements
6. Technology Utilization
  • Leverage wealth management platforms (e.g., Morningstar, Bloomberg)
  • Implement client relationship management (CRM) systems (Salesforce)
  • Use financial planning software (NavPlan, MoneyGuidePro)

Required Skills & Competencies
Technical Skills
 Investment Products: Unit trusts, ETFs, REITs, structured products
 Tax Legislation: Income Tax Act, Estate Duty Act, CGT
 Financial Planning: Retirement funding, risk cover, liquidity planning
 Analytical Tools: Portfolio stress testing, Monte Carlo simulations
 Regulatory Knowledge: FAIS, FICA, FSCA Conduct Standards

Soft Skills
 Relationship Building – Cultivating multi-generational client trust
 Communication – Simplifying complex financial concepts
 Negotiation – Securing best terms with product providers
 Discretion – Handling sensitive client information

Qualifications & Certifications
Mandatory:
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics or Accounting (NQF 7)
  • FAIS compliance (RE 5 examination)
Preferred:
  • CFP® (Certified Financial Planner) 
  • CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst)
